DVSA have announced that tyres 10 years or over are to be banned, and classed as an annual test failure.
From 21st February 2021 it will be illegal to fit tyres aged 10 years or older to the front axle of any HGV, and they will be a failure item at test. If tyres do not display a date code, this will also be a failure.
If stopped by enforcement at the roadside, tyres aged 10 years or more will be given an 'S' marked prohibition, and obligatory DVSA investigation. DVSA staff will check for each tyre's date of manufacture or re-treading stamp and that tyres comply.
If there's any changed to the law prior to the inception date, we'll keep you posted!
