Changes to DVSA fine payments

With effect from 19th January, DVSA are introducing a new portal for paying graduated fixed penalties issued at the roadside.

This will enable fines to be paid at any location and time of day, by enabling the driver to nominate a payee by providing a telephone number and/or email address. This could be for example, an employer.

Enforcement staff will then send a link to the portal with a unique reference number by text or email. When the fine is paid, the officers will receive a response on the system confirming payment and be able to release the vehicle.

When all issues have been dealt with, DVSA staff can update the portal confirming the result of the roadside encounter and that payment has been received.

The service will also be available in several languages.
